A couple weeks ago, I signed up for a copyediting and proofreading course through Universal Class. This is something that has interested me for quite a while now. I'm hoping it will help me to polish my own editing skills as well as help me start my own little copyediting/proofreading business.
Depending on how it goes, I might keep taking courses through them. So far, I like the way the classes are set-up, and learning about different things is something I've always enjoyed.
Today, I completed and sent in my assignment for Lesson 2. It was on the use of style guides and style sheets.
Other things I got done in the last couple days:
- got my poetry submission ready for Turtle magazine (just needs to be mailed out)
- dusted and decluttered my desk! Double woot!
- trimmed the dog's nails and brushed her (she's getting brushed almost every day now)
- got caught up on the laundry
- tidied kitchen and unloaded the dishwasher
- cleaned my bathroom
- took out the garbage
- vacuumed the main floor and stairs
- wrote two haiku
- did my yoga
So, yep, it's been a good couple days, especially considering that I've been fighting a cold and been sneezing and sniffling all day! lol :)
That sounds like fun! Taking a class is always so exciting. I love that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteGood going on your to-do's, there. Impressive! Just one thing you should add: get more vitamin C! Here's me sending you wellness vibes to help shoo that cold away, pronto!
Thanks, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI've been drinking plenty of orange juice and taking echinacea, but I am still sneezing and sniffling. It's settled into my sinuses pretty well. My hubby is off to get some sinus stuff though. I had run out of the regular stuff I take and what I had here just isn't cutting it. I'm sure once I take the regular stuff again for a few days, it should clear up. It's good for colds, allergies, and sinusitis.
And, I think part of it is allergies, too, due to all the dusting and cleaning I've been doing lately. I hadn't had to take anything for my sinuses in a long time though, so I won't complain. :)
That's a funny coincidence, Gisele. I was thinking of signing up for a similiar class. How is the Universal Class?
ReplyDeleteHi, Maripat! That is a funny coincidence! The class itself is very well set-up, but I saw someone post on the class forums and they said that they realized that even though they had learned a lot and had enjoyed the class, it wasn't quite what they were expecting. It was really more about the job itself, how to use style sheets and guides, how to go about finding work, etc. Maybe they were expecting it to be more about grammar usage and such, I'm not really sure.
DeleteI am only starting Lesson 3 so still have a ways to go--there are 14 lessons in all. I know that I intend on taking more English classes after this, too.
